Welcome to Improv8!
2012 brings to you the 4th season of Improv8...
We bring you an evening of comical and theatrical events lead by a team of 8 actors. They will entertain and inspire you with their quick thinking, instant wit and spontaneous acting ability performed through tasks and games, as well as plenty of opportunities for the audience to give their scene suggestions! What is Spontaneous Improvisation? It is an acting technique. Its theatrical definition is: Any unscripted drama work. It is acting on the spot, making it up as you go along, freedom! Improvisation is primarily known as a training technique for actors, and commonly used by background characters on stage and screen and especially useful when actors forget their lines! It comes in a variety of forms from street theatre to a staged show but it actually originates from street theatre where entertainers would amaze the crowds with their clowning skills or provoke and mimic them with mysteriously whimsical caricatures weaving in and out of the hubbub. Improv8 uses a selection of improvisation aspects from sketches, to games, to audience participation. Directors Notes What started out to be a small idea for an entertaining production and for something to keep my creative juices flowing, has unexpectedly turned into a successful sell-out show while also becoming Central America’s only English speaking improvisation troupe. This theatrical style follows in the fashion of big metropolises like Chicago, Washington DC and London and I couldn’t feel prouder of the people who have helped this happen! All of the talented and hard working actors and production team over the time that Improv8 has been running, have contributed to the development of the shows branding and the renowned reputation throughout the city. For this season's show the actors have been working hard to discover brand new styles and gimmicks to create an innovative and intriguing show of events. Improv8 continually offers a roller coaster of emotions and entertainment and a batch of new and devious ways to unit spectator and cast with plenty of audience participation; it won’t be just your voice you will be lending us! In the meantime you can enjoy the taster videos on this page and get a little feel for what it's all about... See you at the next show! |
